In no other sport are people as superstitious as in golf. Every golfer has a variety of golf hints, golf thoughts, or swing thoughts that they employ at various times in their golfing career. A golf hint, in general, is something that was used at the time a good swing was made, and by association alone, is accepted as the reason for the good swing. In other words, I thought about keeping my head still, I had a great swing, so the great swing is because I thought about my head. That is faulty logic!
People often accept golf hints from professionals and naturally assume that they will work for them, a golfer who plays but once a month. Golfers alone are peculiar animals, insisting they get golf hints from the most athletic and accomplished of all golfers in the world. A swimmer would never accept swimming hints from Michael Phelps – because we all know that we could never be like him. However, every golfer believes that they really could be Tiger Woods if they practiced long enough and were given the chance.

A good man is hard to find and so is good swing help. In fact, when you need it the most is when it is not around. And, when you don’t need golf swing help, people will offer it. Nothing can ruin a good swing faster than uninvited comments.
If you play golf, you already know what I am about to tell you. There are times in your golfing “career” when everything falls apart. Your slice takes off on you, you lose your distance, or you can no longer putt to save your life. It happens to every golfer, even the ones who make a living doing it. Luckily, you don’t pay a hefty financial price when your game falls apart, but it can be equally devastating to a weekend golfer. Losing your game sometimes means losing your love of the sport.
Take a look at the arms on Camilo Villegas. Those are not the forearms and biceps of a golfer. Those are the guns of a superbly fit athlete. Golf was once a game played by overweight, unfit, cigar-smoking, drinking older men. It is now the younger, fitter, and stronger golfers who are taking the lead. Tiger Woods lifts weights on a regular basis and is believed to be perhaps the fittest athlete on the tour. This, in part, explains why he dominates.
Once bitten by the golf bug, few golfers ever escape and we spend our entire lives trying to improve our game. By keeping fit and playing every day, we are more likely to develop a regular, quality swing and a reliable overall game. However, few of us have the luxury of playing every day, and more and more of us aren’t as fit as we could or should be. So, finding shortcuts to a better game is sometimes very important.
