Using Golf Swing Training Aids to Better Your Game

If you play golf on a regular basis, then for your own sanity, you owe it to yourself to spend a little time and money on becoming a better and more reliable player. Playing golf when you are “all over the place” with your drives and your irons can be exhausting for you and tiresome for your foursome, and you don’t have to be like that. By using golf swing training aids, you can make a big difference in your game very quickly, and often at little or no cost to you (other than time!).

If you go into any golf store, or large sporting goods store, you will any number of golf swing training aids, all of which promise to completely turn your game around in a matter of hours. Their claims, as you probably already know, are usually false. The makers of aids such as this are using your own insecurities to sell you the products.

There are some aids on the market today that will help you groove a better swing, but it certainly won’t happen overnight. You will have to work for weeks, months, or even years, to make a difference in your swing. This is because you need to commit whatever changes you are making to your muscle memory and your muscles need time to acclimatize themselves to the changes that you are making.

There are some golf swing training aids that aren’t physical products that you buy in the store – but rather informational products that can explain the changes you need to make. Whether you are watching videos on the internet, or reading e-books, you may find enough information there to make a positive change in your game. And, you can do this without visiting the local golf pro and paying a fortune for a fruitless lesson.

Why Is My Golf Swing Speed Important?

Posted by Rob Jeffries

Because golf is in many ways a man’s sport, there is a certain macho aspect to it. Men appreciate other men who hit the ball long and hard and straight and don’t really pay much attention to the players who use finesse and guile to get the ball in the hole. They think better of a player who drives 300 yards than they do someone who shoots 70. That’s just the way it is.

If you want to be one of the guys who drives it 300 yards, then you have to increase your golf swing speed – there is just no way about it. But, that doesn’t mean that you have to go in hyper-mode throughout your entire swing. If you watch any of the pro golfers, their backswing is not fast, it is slow and deliberate, but they accelerate through the swing at such a speed that you can hear the club whip through the air. When you watch their swing in slow motion, you can actually see their club arcing, as the force bends the shaft.

Your golf swing speed in part determines the flight of your ball. However, that doesn’t mean that the guy with the fastest swing will hit it the furthest! There is much more to it than that. You have to be able to make perfect contact with the ball, hitting it on the sweet spot and making contact with just the right part of the club. Any variation and you will not be successful.

Golf swing speed can be measured in most of the larger sporting goods stores. They will be able to measure your swing speed at the fastest point, which should be just when you make contact. From that information, you should be able to determine the type of shafts and balls you should play.

Where to Get a Golf Swing Lesson

Posted by Rob Jeffries

Whether you are a new or an experienced golfer, it never hurts to sharpen up your game. The game of golf is so completely frustrating that the more you can do to get the kinks out and make your game a little more reliable, the better off everyone will be. Your golf friends appreciate it, too, when you are playing better, so by getting a golf swing lesson or two, everyone wins.

Now, you may think that you can’t afford a lesson. Golf is already expensive enough – the clubs, the balls, the shoes, the tacky clothes – it all adds up. And, when you add in the price of a round of golf (and the drinks after), the price of a golf swing lesson is probably something that you can do without. But, you shouldn’t – you need it!

When someone’s game goes bad, their friends usually tell them to “go get a lesson”, as if this is the panacea to all their ills. An hour with the local golf pro will not cure your problems, and may, in fact, cause more problems. After all, the pro’s job is to keep you coming back for more, so it is unlikely that they will even want to heal you on the first lesson.

A convenient and inexpensive way to get a golf swing lesson is not by going down to the golf course and paying a fortune to see a golf “pro”. It is by going online. You can find many high quality and inexpensive lessons online that will allow you to address your particular issue. If you have a slice, you can fix that. If you just don’t hit it as long as your friends, you can find tips to help that. Since they are online, you can go back and review the lessons repeatedly, until you get your game back.

Is Training For Golf Important?

Posted by Rob Jeffries

Take one look at the top ten players on the PGA tour. They don’t look like the top ten players of yesteryear. Most of them are a little slimmer, a little fitter, and a lot buffer than they used to be. You don’t see too many professional golfers smoking (at least not in public!), and many of them have their own personal trainers.

Training for golf is vitally important for professional golfers and for the average golfer as well. We armed with longer and more accurate balls, better clubs, technologically-advanced clothing, yet so many of us haven’t improved the one thing we actually have control over – our own bodies. Training for golf is one area that can quickly improve your swing and your score.

If you are a runner, it is highly likely that you will practice and practice before ever going out to compete against another. If you are a swimmer, you will swim thousands of laps before racing another swimmer. However, for most golfers, practice is usually not part of their life. They may go hit a few balls before a round, but that’s it.

The best golf training is not done out on the golf course, and it isn’t always done on the driving range either. There are certainly benefits to be had by going out to play golf. You can learn the course, figure out your strengths and weaknesses, and see how you react under pressure. On the driving range, you can work on grooving your swing and determine how far you can hit each club. Even on the putting green, you can work on your feel and your ability to determine a line or read the green.
