How to Choose Golf Swing Aids

Posted by Rob Jeffries

If you’ve  looked at any golf magazines lately, you know that there are plenty of golf swing aids on the market. They range from silly ones that might not work to ones that are tried and tested and make a difference in the swing of a lot of people. There are, however, a few things you need to know about these aids in order to have them actually make a difference in how well you play out on the course.

First of all, most people tend to concentrate on golf swing aids that are meant to create a longer or straighter drive. The truth is that your drive is only a small part of your game, and one that most people spend too long working on. You might want to think more in terms of aids that improve your putting, your alignment, or even your sand shots, rather than just adding a few extra yards on your drive.

Secondly, not all golf swing aids are made for all people. If you are short, overweight, and have little muscular strength, some aids may actually hinder your swing. If, however, you are in superior physical shape and have been playing golf for decades, these aids may be good for you. The key is to find aids that work for the problem you are having and to use them properly with your other training methods.

As with all purchases in the golf realm, more expensive does not always mean that it is better. There are some aids that are inexpensive, logical inventions that help you to groove a better swing and they can be better than the expensive ones that you see advertised on television. If you can, make sure that you get a chance to try them out before laying down all that money
