4 Super Tips for Performing a Golf Downswing

153299763_8ac0e6cccaCan you name a sport in which posture isn’t important? While the postures that matter vary from sport to sport, it’s crucial that you master those poses. This will improve your game and also your overall wellbeing. Here are some tips for performing an effective golf downswing.

1. Focus on transferring your weight. This is the essence of performing the swing so it’s crucial that you master it to maximize the effectiveness of your downward golfing stroke. Shifting your weight to the left side of your body will help to boost the speed of your club head, thus helping you hit the ball farther. This happens as you shift the swing’s curve forward.

2. Get power from either the hips or arms. These are the two main approaches to the golf downswing. Some golfers argue that the power of the downswing is in the hips, while others argue that it originates in the arms. Basically, you’ll need to do some experimenting and determine which one of the two approaches works best for you.

3. Separate your left knee from your right knee. This is a key movement in the transition from the backswing, to the downswing. Many golfers believe that focusing on separating your right knee from the left knee is what guides the club so it strikes the ball properly. The left knee should separate as the weights shift, from your right foot to your left foot.

4. Keep your shoulders loose. This is a crucial when you do a downswing. Keep your shoulders loose as a goose, so they follow the lead of the club during the swing.  Using your shoulders to control the swing could cause the action to be less fluid.

Several golfers have used Total Golf Stretching to improve their golf downswing. Learn for yourself why they’ve been satisfied with the results.
