4 Best Mental Golf Swing Tips

Posted by Rob Jeffries

Do you want to lower your golf score? Of course you do! However, sometimes it’s difficult to sift through the oodles of advice out there. So the key is to determine which golf swing tips are the most effective. Here’s some advice about how to improve your golfing psyche:

1. Keep it simple. While you shouldn’t rush any shots, never spend too much evaluating them either. When that happens, your brain become overloaded with information, which it has difficulty processing. Before taking your shot, forget about past and future holes. Take deep breaths and focus on your next shot.

2. Think positive.
One of the most useful golf swing tips is to play your best for each hole. If your shot goes in, it does. And if it doesn’t, just retrieve your ball and prepare for the next hole. There’s no reliving the past (hole).

3. Don’t overanalyze your playing.
Here’s another of the best mental advice. It’s possible to suffer from “analysis paralysis” when golfing.  This isn’t to say that you shouldn’t analyze your game in an attempt to improve it. However, you have to use your sixth sense somewhat, and go with the flow. It’s important not to micro-manage your game, analyzing every single detail until you become overwhelmed. In fact, a fascinating study has proven that golfers are vulnerable to over thinking.

4. Avoid comfort zones. Never be satisfied with your golfing score. Play every hole as if it were the last one of your life. If you’re in a competition, never become over-confident in your playing. Furthermore, remember that “perfect practice makes perfect.” Regardless of how well your game is improving, always strive to shave more strokes off your game.
