1. Use a neutral grip. Twist your left hand towards the left, preventing it from being directly over the handle’s top. Next, you should use your right hand to overlap the left hand’s thumb. Taking these steps will help you to completely release the club when it contacts the ball.
2. Perform an outside-to-inside swing. This requires you to take an opposite approach. Try to produce an outside-to-inside swing that would normally create a slice. 3. Practice until you get it right. During your practice sessions, try both of these techniques to determine which one is most effective in preventing you from creating a golf hook. Keep practicing until your swing has eliminated the unwanted curving of the ball.
4. Use perfect positioning. It’s important that your body is lined up properly before swinging the club. Hold the club alongside your hips and parallel to the ground. Make sure that your shoulder, hip, and foot are lined up properly. Also, the club should be pointing in the direction of your target.
5. Watch the ball! Hit several shots and then examine the flight of the ball. Always ensure that your body is aligned correctly, to help prevent hooks of the ball. If the ball stops hooking then you’ve accomplished your mission and have earned a victory dance (or drink).
