What to Look for in a Golf Swing Lesson

Posted by Rob Jeffries

Most golfers, when looking to improve their game, will pay out some money for a golf swing lesson from a pro. If the golfer already knows what is wrong – perhaps he sways or doesn’t turn enough – a pro may be able to suggest some tricks or swing thoughts that can help.

But, if the golfer doesn’t know what is wrong, or even thinks everything is just fine and only wants to add distance, then they can be terribly disappointed by what the pro tells them. They may think that their reasonably effective swing is completely wrong.  A remarkable thing can happen when a golfer goes for a golf swing lesson. They may lose all confidence completely. They may forget how to swing and begin to ignore their natural instincts and athletic ability. They may give up on golf altogether.

When a golfer is recorded on video during a golf swing lesson, the results can be devastating. They may think they have a great looking swing, only to find out that they look like the guy on the driving range that they are always making fun of! Realizing that you are probably the guy that everyone is mocking can be pretty rough for most golfers. So, when undertaking the improvement of your game, make sure you are ready to hear and see the truth – because it might be painful.

A great way to enhance any golf swing lesson plan is to begin studying your own game in terms of scoring. The Perfect Golf System is one way to analyze your game and determine your strengths and weaknesses. By figuring out what you are good at and what needs improvement, you will be able to make better use of your practice time. Perhaps a lesson isn’t necessary at all – just a few hours on the practice green!
