With obesity at an all-time high in this country and the economy being in such an equally dismal state, it is no wonder that fewer people are playing golf these days. The growing popularity in golf brought around by Tiger Wood’s success in the late 90’s has dwindled and fewer people are playing golf now. For new golfers, however, this is a great situation. Fewer golfers on the courses and on the driving ranges means that prices have dropped, there are more tee times, and lesson are even cheaper. So, there has never been a better time to learn to play golf!
It is true that almost all golfers on the pro circuit learned to play golf at a very early age. If you search through YouTube, you will be able to see a preschool Tiger Woods on the Johnny Carson show, proving his skills to the nation. His situation is not all that unusual. Many pro golfers are the sons of pro golfers, the sons of course professionals, or even the sons of caddies or golf maintenance men. But just because most golfers learned at an early age doesn’t mean that you can’t learn to play golf when you are much older.
It really never is too late to learn to play golf. By learning the game, even at a later age, you can provide yourself with companionship, friendship, fresh air, exercise, and a lot of fun (and frustration, too!). It is a sport that you can play, in one way or another, for nearly your entire life, helping to keep you healthy, thinner, and more active. By taking up the sport, your life will improve, now and in the future, providing you with years of fun and fitness.
